You are Overwhelmingly Beautiful

Moonlighting as an Uber driver the past 4.5 years, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing most of NE Ohio’s amazing landscape and experiencing some of it’s best moments. A lot of those moments lead to conversations with God.

As I traveled the roads today, I hit a patch where there wasn’t much else to see except the beautiful snow-covered landscape. “Lord, it’s so pure. It’s overwhelmingly beautiful.” That’s how today’s conversation began.

He responds, “YOU are overwhelmingly beautiful.” His Spirit follows immediately with His word. “...though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow..."

‭‭(Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭18‬)

And now I am a mess, completely wrecked again by His love! 😭🙌

It’s so easy to forget that God doesn’t look at us with 20/20 vision. It’s so easy to forget how unrestrained His love is for us. He reminded me today, so let me remind you.

God’s vision is BEYOND PERFECT. When He looks at you and me, He doesn’t see us as sin-stained people. Those who trust Him to be our Redeemer, our Righteousness, and our Savior, He sees through the righteousness of Jesus - through the OVERWHELMING BEAUTY of His Son. Yes, we mess up. We make a lot of bad choices and mistakes. We walk in pride. We fail at faithfulness. We do a lot of things we should not do. That’s 20/20 vision. God filters out all those impurities through His Son. We appear white as snow in His sight.

God loves us so much that He removed every barrier to His love. He wrapped Himself in flesh and took all of our sin upon Himself. He took all the filth, bondage, and misery of our sin. He carried it to the cross, destroyed it, and declared His eternal victory over it for you and me. NOTHING can separate us from His love. NOTHING can make Him love us less. NOTHING can make Him see us differently.

He delights in looking upon those He sees through His Son. He delights in tending to our needs when we call upon Him. He never despises our condition. It is His delight to have us rely on Him when we’re weak, to help us live lives that please Him. He delights in those who trust Him.

Do you know this is how God sees you? When was the last time you thought that to yourself? Have you ever even realized it? It is true.
